Frequently Asked Questions
What is required if you receive the scholarship?
- Be admitted to and enrolled in Hill College (http://www.hillcollege.edu/).
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and enter the Hill College school code 003573. (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/). It is recommended that students complete the FAFSA by the Texas priority deadline.
- Submit all requested forms and documents to the appropriate person(s).
- Meet in person with a Hill College academic advisor/success coordinator to develop a degree plan and register for courses and enroll in 12-16 credit hours per regular semester (Fall/ Spring) (Max. total of 32 credit hours)
- Register for and attend traditional classroom/face to face classes at Hill College-Burleson Center with the exception of: Classes only offered online / Classes offered hybrid (traditional classroom/face to face & online) / Programs not offered in Burleson.
- Enroll in Learning Frameworks PSYC 1100 in their first semester.
- Recipients must earn credit in all enrolled classes. Recipients are allowed to drop only one class per academic year during the time they are receiving the scholarship.
- Complete 8 hours of community service by the end of the fall semester (4 hours must come from the BOF breakfast and 4 hours must be completed on your own).
- Assist the BOF in promoting the program and mentoring future students.
What does the scholarship offer?
This is a “last dollar scholarship” which means Federal and/or State aid will pay for tuition and fees first.
Tuition and fees for up to 16 hrs/sem.
(Fall/Spring) for two years at Hill College.
How many scholarships will be awarded?
The number of scholarships awarded each year varies depending on available funds. To date, every qualified applicant has received a scholarship. In the event there weren’t sufficient funds to award scholarships to all eligible applicants, scholarships would be awarded through a lottery system.

Who is eligible for Burleson Opportunity Fund Scholarships?
- A Burleson ISD high school graduate, or
- A Burleson resident graduating from:
- A non-Burleson ISD public high school,
- An accredited private school, or
- An accredited home school program.
